We will visit a pub frequented by Brian Epstein and the Beatles. We will visit the neighbourhoods last 'Free House' (That unfortunately doesn't mean the beers are free!) We will hear stories about the legendary Paddy Kelly, regarded as the rudest pub landlord in London. Re-live the titanic Test series of the British & Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand, deemed by many as the greatest ever, with this double disc DVD which features all the key action from the three matches against the All Blacks. Up against the double world champions this series was going to be the ultimate feat for the tourists but what followed was an epic, closely fought battle, ending with honours even and the Lions standing proud and untamed. The first Test at the All Blacks Auckland fortress, Eden Park, where they had not lost a game since 1994, produced one of the greatest tries in Lions history. The match was fairly even heading into halftime, but the All Blacks proved too strong in the second half and broke away to win 30-15. A must-win second Test lay ahead for the Lions on a rainy night in Wellington. In a match packed with drama, including a red card for Sonny Bill Williams, the Lions were trailing 18-9 with 20 minutes to play. What followed had Lions fans watching in disbelief and delight as two brilliant tries and a late penalty kick from Owen Farrell secured the win and sent the series to a decider. The final Test back in Auckland is a contest that no rugby fan will ever forget. The All Blacks started the game on fire, scoring two tries in the first half to lead 12-6 at the break. Still, the game was not over and in true Lions fashion they fought their way back to three points behind with just 10 minutes to play. Another Owen Farrell penalty sailed over in the 77th minute to bring them level at 15-15 and ultimately draw a Test series for the first time against New Zealand. Featuring extended highlights of the first Test and every second of action from the second and third Tests, as well as post-match interviews, watch this historic tied series between the Lions and the All Blacks unfold. No one will ever forget the 2017 Lions Tour. Disc 1: Test 1 (Extended highlights) & 2 (Full match coverage) Disc 2: Test 3 (Full match coverage)
Many great accounts of the fateful night of April 14th and 15th of 1912 have been told about the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Over the past one hundred and one years, the stories of the people and the disaster have been explained in art, movies, books, music, and verse. This audiobook begins with two original poems I have written to commemorate the ship's first, last, and only voyage and the heroics demonstrated by some of those souls on board, some who survived and others who did not. Other wonderful and historic poems from the years immediately following the disaster are included here along with musical tributes. Some of the poems are famous, while others were penned by unknown poets. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Trevor Palczynski. Of all the places to visit in Manhattan, the southern tip of the island is the most historic. BrightPath Tours welcomes you to our tour of Lower Manhattan! Here you'll find the city's oldest chapel - and its first skyscrapers. Here you'll see the street that began as a barrier, extending from river to river. Today that street is known as Wall Street. Our main tour route is the old trading path that wended its way from the very bottom to the very top of Manhattan Island. You've heard the name many times - it's called Broadway. We're starting at the Brooklyn Bridge, where we'll take in the sites of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New York Harbor. From there we'll take a walk through the canyons of lower Broadway, with stops that include the site where our Founding Fathers met, the location where gold reserves are held, and the building that housed the very first Federal Agency. We'll also see some of the sites where family and friends of the Titanic passengers waited to hear news of the great ship. We'll end our tour at one of the most scenic and historic parts of the city - Battery Park and New York Harbor. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Maureen Reigh Quinn. Robertson's story, written 14 years before the historic event it presaged, parallels the descriptions and fate of the Titanic with psychic precision. His tale, however, doesn't end with the passengers' watery demise; rather, it chronicles the detective work instigated by members of Lloyd's of London, embroiling Scotland Yard, when word comes in that the heavily insured ship has sunk to the bottom of the ocean. What ensues is a battle between insurers and attorneys, in London and New York, and a survivor who has rescued another passenger's daughter. Robertson draws upon his own rich and wild experience as a seaman on the Atlantic to weave a narrative interspersed with colloquial dialogue, bringing to life the conflicts between the rich merchants who rely upon shipping and the sailing men relied upon to chart their courses. 1.
